Man And Machine: New Rolls-Royce Artwork By Refik Anadol Uses Complex Data To Provoke Dialogues

SUSSEX, UK — Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has announced its latest creative collaboration with the exciting media artist Refik Anadol for a very topical artwork. This unique piece utilizes data-sets relating to the color of every motor car conceived over the last ten years at the marque’s Goodwood production facility in Sussex, UK for an art work that examines what it means to be human in the age of machine intelligence.

Entitled “Art of Perfection: Data Painting”, the work will see an LED “canvas” conveying a data painting that uses a series of data-sets taken from the Rolls-Royce Surface Finish Center. The data relates to the color reference of each car produced over the past decade, combined with the data generated by the programed robotic movement required to perfectly apply the surface finish to each car.
